At WheelsInShoes, we take your safety very seriously. Take your safety seriously too and at least read the key points.
Our system works like shoes, but it is an attachment that attaches onto your inline skates. Inline skates restrict the movement of the ankles and this behavior obviously carries over.
The stair rules apply in a general sense to any kind of ascent or descent.
1. Both directions: consider the overall length and your center of mass.
2. Downstairs: go sideways or perhaps backwards.
If you forget this and take a normal step, as if you were wearing shoes, you will find that your ankle can't bend. As a result, you won't be able to take the next step with your toes first.
Then your knees will probably not be able to compensate for the difference in height of the stairs and you will find yourself at the bottom of the stairs sooner than you intended.
This could happen because inline skates restrict ankle movement, not because our system is faulty.
3. Upstairs: easy.
4. Public transport: do not feel pressured to get off quickly.
Be close to the door before the stop. Then we recommend that you stand sideways close to the edge and step down while turning 90 degrees. The height of the step can sometimes be considerable.
5. Escalator: take time to calculate where to take the first step.
Ascending escalator: Hold on to the handrail. Step sideways or forward (if length allows).
Descending escalator: Hold on to the handrail. Step sideways.
Be careful on stairs!
